The ocean - without it there would be no life on earth. It regulates the climate that allows life to thrive and provides us with more than half the oxygen we breathe, but mankind’s ruthless over-exploitation of marine resources puts enormous strain on our seas.
Despite our negative impact, many places in our oceans demonstrate the extraordinary powers of recovery and resilience of marine ecosystems.
The heart of the film is a message of hope:
By working together, we can turn the tide on ocean degradation and create a more sustainable future for our planet. Drawing on the latest scientific research and the insights of leading marine biologists and conservationists, we showcase how they address the challenges facing our oceans.

Wild Rescue chronicles wildlife that people of all ages and from every walk of life can relate to seen through the intimate lens and pioneering, state-of-the-art wildlife hospital located in picturesque Santa Barbara, CA. Whether someone lives in New York or Los Angeles, the suburbs, coastline or countryside, they likely have met a raccoon or two, and most probably even have encountered a skunk, if not an entire skunk family. These animals and thousands of others just like them have one big thread common with people – we live right alongside each other!
Wild Rescue documents the passionate story behind the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network, the fragile journey of rescuing injured animals from out in the wild, their rehabilitation by their team of dedicated veterinarians and volunteers, and the release of the animals for a “second chance at a wild life.”

Red Pandas – perhaps the world’s cutest animals – are in trouble. Poaching for the pet trade has driven them to endangered status.
On the India-Nepal border there’s reason for hope. 40 years ago, the forests here were virtually empty. But in that time an innovative breeding program has increased the wild population from nearly zero to around 60.
Zoos from around the world provided captive bred animals, strengthening the gene pool, and now the grandchildren of those zoo pandas are returning to the wild.
Years of dedication are finally paying off. This autumn saw a landmark event when 2 cubs were released at once. We filmed their first steps and will follow their first season in their new home.
This film interweaves two intimate journeys - the cubs and the staff who raised them. We’ll see these beautiful forests through their eyes and learn their hopes for the future.
